Head over to the Atlanta Botanical Garden from now through January 7 to take part in the 7th annual electrical extravaganza that is Garden Lights, Holiday Nights. This event includes spectacular light displays throughout the Garden. Explore familiar favorites like Walk of Flames, Tunnel of Light, Orchestral Orbs, Glittering Galaxy, and Rainforest. The highlight of this year’s display, however, is the new high-tech Nature’s Wonders. This is the world’s largest synchronized curtain of lights with 1,600 strings of lights containing over 70,000 color changing LED light pixels. Hanging above the Canopy Walk, Nature’s Wonders’ lights are choreographed to music and sound effects. If you and your family love holiday lights, this is something you won’t want to miss. Don’t forget to check out the Model Train display also going on in the Garden this holiday season.

Come out to Zoo Atlanta December 2 for the Zoo’s first-ever holiday tree lighting. Zhu Zhu, the Giant Panda mascot flips the switch on the Grand Patio at 4:30 PM. Other events include: free childrens’ crafts, photo opportunities in front of the 20-foot holiday tree, delicious holiday snacks, warm spiced cider, and Gleeful performers. Zoo Atlanta’s Cookies With Santa event is going on December 2-3 from 8:30 AM-4:30 PM.

The Center for Puppetry Arts presents their annual performance of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, sure to pull at the heartstrings of adults and children alike. All-inclusive family series tickets to this event include 3 exciting activities. Visitors will not only get to enjoy the Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer performance, but also receive admission to the Worlds of Puppetry Museum as well as attend the Create-a-Puppet Workshop to build and perform with their own King Moonracer Rod Puppet. Don’t miss out on this unique holiday opportunity! Performances are going on now through December 31, with the exception of Christmas Day.
